Hyphen’s In Domain Names

You might know about the following content, so please bear with me.

Let’s say you were wanted to buy a domain name mydomainname.com. But some lucky guy’s already bought it. Then you do a few more searches and you find out that my-domain-name.com, mydomain-name.com, my-domainname.com and mydom-ainname.com are availalble. You keep on pondering which domain name to buy between the first 3 as only an insane person would choose option 4. Worried about your SERP’s?

Guess what? Take any you want! It won’t affect your SERP’s. When the Google search engine searches for a term with “-” in between, it ignore the hyphen. Infact, it ignores all most of the symbols. I first noticed this while messing around with Adwords and I found a lot of search terms like www mydomainname com. Then after a few test run the past few days, I’ve confirmed this. Like I mentioned, this was for people who did not know.
