Duplicate Content

Duplicate content refers to blocks of content on domains or websites that are quite similar. These are done to change the search engine rankings and to make some extra money online. Notably, content in different languages does not count as duplicate content.

Google cares a lot about duplicate content as it makes a waste of their crawler efforts. They index orignial content much faster and give it more important. But then again, there is a controversy in this context. Duplicate content on a website which has an old domain, unlike my blog , get ranked much higher that the site that had the original content. Unfair advantage, but that’s life for you. You need to make sure you get enough links to match up with those competitors.

You don’t need to worry too much about the competition stealing your content as no matter what they do, you will not lose your ranking.
